ES (Experimental Songcycles) is Sami Sänpäkkilä's solo work. Altough founder of one of the greatest underground finnish labels - Fonal Records - his work isn't much alike the freefolk phenomena observed in the works of Avarus, Kemialliset Ystävät and so on. His minimalistic rendered loops in 'A Love Cycle' brings to mind Sub Rosa's Philip Jeck ans Saule, while Sateenkaarisuudelma's contemporary eruditism is best described as a droning Terry Riley.
