Rapeman

Rapeman is a short lived project of so well know Steve Albini. Clearly transitional, their only full length album overwhelms its historical crossover character: the desperate harshness-bears-insanity of Big Black versus the minimal cutting-edge trebly angularness of Shellac.

Nervous Cop

An also (still) one album project, this is Hella's Zach Hill and Deerhoof's Greg Saunier drum recordings digitally manipulated, with tonal and atonal harpwork and keyboards by Joanna Newsom and ocasional synth noise by John Dietrich (from Deerhoof as well). Newsom seems misplaced here: with the harp, she misfits; with the keyboards, it sounds sampled from a bluesy old vynil (negatively speaking, since it discredits her amazing qualities as a musician). The end result is virtually (virtuosically at times) a chaotic - still complex and consistent - drum duo record.

Zeni Geva

The last album by Zeni Geva, released by Neurosis members Neurot Recordings, is an amazing math prog noiserock work. Leader K.K. Null reveals his more agressive side in Zeni Geva, and 10.000 Light Years, produced by Steve Albini, alternates jazz and metal riffs, much alike the cerebral metal and experimental approach of Neurot and Relapse labels.

Hair Police

"Working with traditional rock instrumentation as well as electronics, tape manipulation, and oscillators, Hair Police builds demonic walls of sound for a result reminiscent of Throbbing Gristle, early Black Dice, and Wolf Eyes." source

The Hafler Trio

"The Hafler Trio is Andrew M. McKenzie (from Newcastle, England — currently residing in Tallinn, Estonia) working in the field of psychoacoustics and sonic research. Since 1982, The Hafler Trio has produced a prolific body of work involving art, science, sound, religion, comedy and philosophy — emphasizing a dynamic balance and interplay of 'body', 'mind' and 'spirit' over any one of these. McKenzie has previously worked with members of Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA, Nurse With Wound, Psychic TV, Whitehouse and Zoviet France. Andrew has also collaborated with performance artists John Duncan and Annie Sprinkle, ex-Fluxus artist Willem De Ridder, artist/designer Neville Brody, and sound/poetry artist Z'EV. Recently, The Hafler Trio are concerned with the ramifications of technology and the creation of the most extreme, all inclusive experience as possible, that 'resonates' over a period of time lasting much longer than just the physical time it takes to apprehend it, and affects and engages all levels of being." source

Zoviet France

":Zoviet*France: is an idiosyncratic collective of anonymous postindustrialists, dronologists, and pseudo-ethnomusicologists. Their investigations have taken them into fictional cultures where nothing is easily located and reality often slips into the hypnagogic. Having secluded themselves in Newcastle, England since their inception in 1982, :Zoviet*France: have developed a radical relationship with the cheap technologies of old-fashioned tape recorders, homemade acoustic instruments, primitive looping and sampling devices, and basic dub trickery. From these machines, the collective has crafted a distinctly unique vocabulary of postindustrial sonic hypnosis. Just as :Zoviet*France:'s sound was alchemic reconfigurations of inexpensive technologies, their vinyl packaging literally covered their sounds with aluminum, roofing shingles, and porcelain." source

Michael Cashmore

Michael Cashmore is the british composer behind much of Current 93's guitar work for over 15 years. In solo intents, Nature and Organisation is refinedly song-oriented in the neofolk field, in counterpoint to the conceptual approach of the minimal apocalyptical folk found in Current 93.
His recent outputs credited straightly as himself find Cashmore outside the folk territory. Sleep England is a guitar and bass only record, with beautiful soft minimal patterns. The Snow Abides features vocals from Antony Hagerty (Antony and the Johnsons) in this short but incredible chamber music record.
