Zoviet France

":Zoviet*France: is an idiosyncratic collective of anonymous postindustrialists, dronologists, and pseudo-ethnomusicologists. Their investigations have taken them into fictional cultures where nothing is easily located and reality often slips into the hypnagogic. Having secluded themselves in Newcastle, England since their inception in 1982, :Zoviet*France: have developed a radical relationship with the cheap technologies of old-fashioned tape recorders, homemade acoustic instruments, primitive looping and sampling devices, and basic dub trickery. From these machines, the collective has crafted a distinctly unique vocabulary of postindustrial sonic hypnosis. Just as :Zoviet*France:'s sound was alchemic reconfigurations of inexpensive technologies, their vinyl packaging literally covered their sounds with aluminum, roofing shingles, and porcelain." source

Excellent post. But disc 2 part 1 of Popular Soviet... has an error in track called (I think) "Ma Ja" hence my rar extractor shuts off and refuses to open the rest of the files after getting to that song. (I redownloaded it and tried again; same error.) So I guess I'll have to get that disc from somewhere else...

Nevermind that last post; all the discs opened fine. I guess the cutoff point between disc 2a and disc 2b was that track ("Ma-Ja"), so it had to jump over and open the next folder, which I did not yet have on my desktop.

On an unrelated note, hopefully someone will make some ZovietFrance/Boris mashups someday....

Thank you. You have here provided a service to hundreds of unknown drone soldiers who seek small peace in sound.

Your commitment to posting this wonderful(l) music is a great service to all of us.

Thank you very much indeed Torquemada or is it Soidemersol. Most of these releases are long deleted and had it not been for you we plebs would never get the chance to hear them. It would be better if they were all at 320 kbs but to have them at all is a joy. So thank you again.
